A bathroom is the smallest room in a renovation and the one with the most ways to go wrong out of sight. Almost every bathroom failure we are called to fix is water that got past a detail nobody could see once the tile went on.
We build them as a licensed general contractor, with the waterproofing done properly because it is the part you are actually paying for — the finishes are just what you get to look at.

What you are really buying
Four things you will never see again.
Two bathrooms can look identical on handover day and be completely different projects. The difference is everything that got closed up behind the tile — and it is where a cheap bid saves its money.
Waterproofing is the whole job
Everything you can see in a finished bathroom is sitting on a waterproofing system you will never see again. Done properly it is a continuous membrane behind the tile, correctly detailed at the corners, the curb and the drain. Done badly it fails silently for two years and then rots the framing.
The slope has to be right before tile
A shower floor has to fall consistently to the drain. Tile cannot correct a bad pre-slope — it just hides it until water stands. This is set long before anyone chooses a tile.
Ventilation is code, not comfort
Florida humidity plus a poorly vented bathroom is how you get mould in the ceiling. Exhaust has to be sized to the room and ducted outside the building, not into an attic.
Curbless showers are a structural decision
A zero-entry shower means recessing the floor structure, which is straightforward in some homes and a real undertaking in others. It is decided at the framing stage, not at tile selection.

Why a small room takes weeks.
A bathroom is a chain of steps that cannot overlap. Demolition, then rough plumbing and electrical, then inspection, then backer and waterproofing, then a cure, then tile, then a set, then fixtures, then trim. Most of the calendar is waiting for something to be inspected or to dry — which is why a contractor promising a bathroom in a week is telling you which steps they intend to skip.
Where you are matters
Local constraints on a bath.
In a Naples or Fort Lauderdale condominium, the association usually sets work hours, elevator protection and how debris leaves the building. Those rules routinely add more time than the tile does, and they belong in the estimate rather than in a change order.
In Cape Coral and coastal Lee County, a single bathroom rarely troubles the 50% substantial-improvement threshold — but several bathrooms plus a kitchen, permitted together, can. Worth knowing before you decide how much to do at once.

How long does a bathroom remodel take?
A primary bathroom typically runs three to six weeks on site. Bathrooms have more sequential dependencies than their size suggests — waterproofing has to cure, tile has to set, and none of it can be compressed by adding people to the room.
Do I need a permit to remodel a bathroom?
Usually yes. Any change to plumbing or electrical is permitted work throughout Lee and Collier County. Replacing a vanity and a mirror in place may not be. We confirm with the jurisdiction before pricing.
Can you do a curbless walk-in shower?
Yes, and it is the most requested upgrade we see. Whether it is simple or significant depends on your floor structure — a slab-on-grade home and a raised floor behave very differently. We tell you which you have before you commit to the look.
What does a bathroom remodel cost?
Too wide a range to quote honestly on a web page, because a guest bath refresh and a primary suite with a curbless shower and double vanity are different projects. What moves it most: whether plumbing locations change, whether the shower goes curbless, tile size and layout, and whether the existing framing is sound once opened.
Will you find problems once you open it up?
Sometimes, and older Southwest Florida bathrooms are the most likely place. Concealed leaks, soft subfloor and dated wiring are the usual three. We write allowances for the likely ones rather than pretending they cannot happen, and we show you before we proceed.
Can I use the bathroom during the work?
Not the one being renovated. If it is your only full bathroom, say so early — it changes how we sequence the work and how hard we push the schedule.
